Theater for children

THEATER FOR CHILDREN IN REGENSBURG!

There is always a large selection of plays for children in Regensburg in the run-up to Christmas. It’s always great fun for young and old alike and there’s plenty of choice in Regensburg. We took a look around to see what’s on.

Here are our RegensburgNow theater tips for children:

Academy Theater

The Akademietheater is part of the Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Bayern, or ADK for short. Here you can follow the development of drama students at close quarters. In addition to regular plays, there are always very nice children’s plays at the Akademietheater.
Address: Kreuzgasse 5

A week full of Saturdays (from 5 years)

Sams is a lively, irreverent but very lovable creature. One day, he turns up at the home of bourgeois Mr. Taschenbier, chooses him as his dad and gets up to one nonsense after another. Mr. Taschenbier doesn’t like this at all and would like to get rid of the strange creature. But Sams is very persistent. Little by little, Mr. Taschenbier not only finds out what the blue dots on Sams’ nose are all about, but above all he discovers how much he loves his Sams – and that a little “Samsness” can’t hurt even a serious gentleman. Young Theater

Theater Regensburg is Bavaria’s largest municipal multi-genre theater with five divisions and the venues Theater am Bismarckplatz, Theater am Haidplatz, Antoniushaus and the Junges Theater. The Young Theater venue is located on the upper Bismarckplatz in the Haus der Musik. Address: Bismarckplatz 1

Frederick (from 2 years)

Frederick the field mouse lives with his family in an old stone wall. Summer is coming to an end and fall is coming to the country. The field mice now have to work day and night. They have to gather supplies for the winter. Bit by bit, grains, nuts, maize and straw go into the mice’s burrow. Everyone is hard at work. Except Frederick. He is sitting on a stone and doesn’t seem to be doing anything. No way! Frederick is collecting something else: he is collecting sunbeams, colors and words. And then there it is, winter. The mice sit in their burrow and freeze. When the supplies finally run out, Frederick shares his treasures with the whole mouse family. He gives them rays of sunshine to keep them warm, colors to make the winter seem less dreary, and a poem full of hopeful words.
Leo Lionni’s amazement at the big world in miniature has never left him, even as an adult. His story of the field mouse who feeds and comforts her family with imagination is a modern classic that continues to inspire children today. Frederick’s journey through memory reveals how important dreams are for our lives and the power that art can unfold. Sat, 21.12.24 Frederick at 2.00 pm Young Theater PUPPENSPIEL NACH LEO LIONNI

Rudi the rat gets off the boat – children’s musical (from 5 years)

Rudi the rat is in a bad mood: he is all alone on his ship and yet everyone knows that rats are pack animals. What’s more, he’s fed up with the endless canned beans. He dreams of a delicious three-course meal waiting for him safely in the container of a Michelin-starred restaurant on the mainland. Unfortunately, he can’t disembark – after all, rats only leave a sinking ship. And Rudi’s ship is not sinking – it is lying on dry land, waiting to be scrapped. Then the outrageously cheerful goblin Konstantin bursts into the middle of Rudi’s cabin. He is looking for a cutter and captain who can fulfill his dream: To ride a whale fountain for once. It would be a laugh if Rudi’s and Konstantin’s dreams couldn’t come true if they joined forces! In 2015, Rat Rudi disembarked from a real theater ship for the first time in Hamburg. Now the fast-paced adventure by the author and composer trio Frowin, Pamuk and Eichhorn is coming to Regensburg. Between swing and soul, reggae and funk, the musical about the two outsiders Rudi and Konstantin tells of the power of friendship, the determination to pursue one’s dreams and to face one’s fears with lots of wild Klabautermann action. Peterchens Mondfahrt (from 6 years)

The night fairy banished the thief with his bundle of wood, which still had his leg attached, to the moon for his deed. Sumsemann can only regain the missing body part if he finds children who have never tortured an animal and who are brave enough to join him on the adventurous journey to the moon. It’s a good thing that Peter and Anneliese are animal-loving, adventurous children! Together they set off in search of Sumsi’s sixth leg. They make their way to Moon Mountain via Star Meadow and Milky Way. This is where the moon man ekes out his existence. With courage and ingenuity, the children help the little bug fight for his little leg. Will they succeed in overcoming the moon man? Gerdt von Bassewitz’s poetic children’s book in the tradition of Jules Verne was first published in 1915 and has delighted generations of children and adults ever since. The Little Prince family opera by Pierangelo Valtinoni (from 8 years)

After PINOCCHIOS ABENTEUER and DIE RÜCKKEHR VON PETER PAN, Theater Regensburg is continuing its “musical theater for families” series with DER KLEINE PRINZ. A young boy dreams of becoming a pilot. When his dream comes true many years later, he has to make an emergency landing with his plane in the desert. There he meets the little prince, who has landed on earth from his asteroid B-612. The little prince tells the pilot, who is trying to repair his plane, about his experiences on other inhabited planets and asteroids in space and on Earth: about his encounters with a ruler who is in love with ruling; about a singer who is in love with herself; about a star buyer who is in love with owning; and about a fox who explains to him the nature of friendship. The little prince is homesick for his asteroid and for the rose that is waiting for him there. But once on the big earth, it is not so easy to return to the small kingdom of childhood. A snake that the little prince encounters in the desert will help him return … Saturday, 09.11.24 at 18.00

Dream Factory Show Theater of the Imagination in the Audimax

Over 1 million spectators have already visited the Dream Factory nationally and internationally. With a 40-strong team, the production goes on tour again and creates a true dream factory for the guests – in front of, on and behind the stage. But what is the Dream Factory – a two-hour treat on the big stage that combines styles from vaudeville, theater, nouveau cirque and creative dance into an artistic production – a symphony of artistry, poetry, humor and beauty – sometimes loud, sometimes quiet. The artists take the audience away from everyday life for a few hours with little stories that open the heart, touch the senses and yet don’t tell everything. Mysterious illusions leave the audience room for their own
thoughts and imagination.
