THE SUMMER PROGRAM OF THE VHS REGENSBURG!
Have you heard of the Regensburg Adult Education Center? Adult education course, that probably sounds a bit old-fashioned to some. But this year’s summer program of the VHS Regensburg proves once again that this is not true at all. After all, adult education means education for everyone, trying out new things and meeting people. You can put together your own “active vacation” at home from the varied leisure and learning activities on offer from August to September. From classic language courses to line dancing, yoga or earring making – the program is extensive. No wonder with almost 130 courses from the areas of society, health, culture, lifestyle, career and languages. Under the motto “Together through the summer”, the adult education center and public library are offering numerous courses. We have leafed through the program and picked out 10 great courses.
10 things you can learn at the VHS this summer!
Crash course for guitar no previous knowledge required
In this crash course, Josef Meier introduces you to the basics of guitar playing in as complete and stylistically varied a way as possible, but in a very compact form. The course is based on a pedagogically and didactically well thought-out concept that bundles the learning objectives into three modules or areas of competence: 1. in monophonic playing or melody playing, you will learn the notes on the fingerboard in the 1st and 2nd position. position. You will be able to play simple melodies and songs relatively quickly. 2. in the “song accompaniment” module, you will discover the chord repertoire used for many songs (7 – 10 chords or “fingerings”) and learn to use the chords in small learning steps (step by step) with simple strumming and picking patterns on popular song examples (especially “Yesterday songs”). 3. in the third module, when you start to play your first solo, you will realize that the guitar is a wonderful solo instrument with which you can not only get an idea of the sound space of the guitar in simple two-part playing (melody and bass) or in arpeggio playing (chord decompositions), but can already play quite passable little pieces. 4 x Monday, 16:30 – 18:00, from 12.08.2024, BiC im KÖWE, Dr. Gessler-Straße 47, 1st floor, room 3 Course no: I59000 Cost: 59,00 €
Intensive yoga week
Asana (the classic yoga posture) means: “to relate to one’s own life processes”. By practicing both “sun-like” (heating) and “moon-like” (cooling) asanas, you can experience long-term physical well-being, clarity, flexibility and strength. Using the marmas (“special vital points in the body”), you learn to consciously perceive your body and to control the many small and subtle movements in the asanas. The practice is mainly static. Are you standing in front of an important person and want to start a conversation, but don’t know how? Do you often lack the right words for a conversation with seemingly irrelevant content? Which topics can you bring up? The night of the shooting stars
Every year around August 12, a special spectacle takes place in the sky: it “rains” shooting stars! Whether you call them “meteoroid stream”, “Perseids” or “Laurentius tears”: the fleeting trails of light in the sky fascinate young and old and are the cause of many an ancient popular belief. In an introductory presentation, you will be given expert and understandable information on the subject of “shooting stars” – from the nature and origin of the harmless luminous phenomena to the explosive scenario of the devastating impact of a large celestial body on Earth. Afterwards, if the sky is clear, there will be an opportunity to take a short trip with the course leader to the Brandlberg to practice orientation in the sky and prepare for the observation of shooting stars on the nights of August 11/12. You will find the meeting point in Regensburg-Brandlberg in the lecture. If you wish, you can bring a folding chair. Tai Chi – Introduction compact
This intensive course offers you the opportunity to learn selected postures of the short form (37 figures in total) in a short time. You can practise these as an independent sequence at home and benefit from their health-promoting effect. Line dancing without prior knowledge
Take a lot of country music, some pop, a little rock and Latin rhythms. Now mix this with variations of dance steps and a few spins. Spanish for beginners – Intensive evening course level A1 – Part 1
A quick and intensive introduction to the Spanish language or to repeat lessons 1 to 4. No previous knowledge is required. Crime scene tour: Regensburg’s criminal history(ies)
The caviar murderer of 1983, the bloody pimp war on the banks of the Danube in 1971, the strangler of Regensburg and a still unsolved murder case from 1987: these spectacular cases from Regensburg’s criminal history are told at original locations. Goldsmithing – earrings For beginners and advanced students
In this workshop you will make silver earrings. You will learn the basic working methods and techniques of jewelry making.
