TEN THINGS YOU SHOULD DO IN REGENSBURG IN SUMMER!

We love summer! Now is the best time of year to do lots of outdoor activities: from drinking Aperol Spritz to camping. Time to go swimming, play badminton, sit in the beer garden and enjoy the summer in the city. And to the full, please. How can you make the most of summer in Regensburg? We have a few ideas for you…

Here are the RegensburgNow tips for the summer:

1) Relax on the beach!

You can get that beach feeling in the middle of the city at 0941 Beach on the Danube. The 0941 Beach in the east of Regensburg (just before the harbor) is one of the oldest beach clubs in Germany. Here you can chill out in a deckchair or beach chair and enjoy cocktails, pizza and burgers. Only open when the weather is nice. Donaulände 21.
Alternatively, you can chill out at the Arcaden Beach Club high above Regensburg. Friedenstr. 23 Parking deck 3 93053 Regensburg

2) Pick strawberries!

Much better than buying strawberries in the supermarket and being annoyed at home about the one or other mushy strawberry is simply to go to the strawberry field yourself. For example at the Beerenmeile ( Unterislinger Weg 34, 93053 Regensburg). There is even a berry café there. You can also pick blueberries, raspberries and currants. Simply get out of the city and into nature.

3) Go to the Cinema Paradiso!

From July 6 to August 27, 2023, it’s “Cinema under the stars” again at the Grieser Steg. The open-air cinema on the Danube is a wonderful place. Here you can not only enjoy open-air cinema with headphones, but also drink a glass of wine or nibble on Turkish snacks at Bar Paradiso on the Danube. If you want, you can take a dip in the Danube beforehand.

4) Have an aperitif on the roof terrace!

and let your gaze wander over the rooftops of Regensburg. Nowhere is the view over the old town better than from the roof of Galeria Kaufhof. Neupfarrplatz, 93047 Regensburg. Open until 19.00 hrs.

5) Go to the beer garden!

For example, to the classics, such as the Alte Linde or the Spitalgarten. Or how about a short bike ride to Tremmelhauserhöhe or Matting? It doesn’t matter, the main thing is that the beer is cold.

6) Go to the lake and unwind!

If the Guggi and the Sarchinger are too far away for you, there are also bathing spots in the city. You can find all the bathing spots here: Swimming spots in and around Regensburg

7) Eat tapas!

Tapas, the word alone sounds like summer and vacation. You can find the RegensburgNow tips for a summer evening with tapas here: Tapas evening

8) Go on excursions!

The Regensburg region offers a variety of great excursion destinations, for example the Höllbach Valley or the Otterbach Valley, numerous castles, the Danube Gorge and much more. And if you have a bit of Asia wanderlust and want to get a taste of the Far East, the Nepal Himalaya Park near Wiesent is the place to go. 9) Do sports outside!

Until July 30, 2023, you can do sports outdoors every Sunday at “Regensburg goes FIT” at Oberer Wöhrd free of charge and without registration. At 4.00 pm there is functional training, at 5.00 pm kickboxing aerobics and at 6.00 pm there is an hour of yoga. Unfortunately, Regensburg goes Fit will not take place if the weather is too bad.
Or just go for a bike ride again! You can find the RegensburgNow tips for an after-work ride here: Cycling tours

10) Eat ice cream!

Of course, if not now, then when? Whether it’s classic vanilla or chocolate, or new-fangled Aperol spritz ice cream, one or two scoops, waffles or cups… simply melt in your mouth! There are plenty of ice cream parlours in Regensburg.
We have a tip for homemade ice cream for you:
The super-simple 2-ingredient ice cream (without an ice cream machine)
Whip 500 ml of cream until stiff
Add 400 ml of sweetened condensed milk (Milchmädchen) and mix until the ice cream mixture thickens slightly.
Whip the well-chilled cream until almost stiff. Carefully fold in the sweetened condensed milk, also well chilled, while stirring slowly.
The base is ready.
Now mix in strawberry puree, for example, or add a little baking cocoa to make chocolate ice cream. A few roasted almonds or nuts also go well in the ice cream. Divide the ice cream mixture into portions as required and place in the freezer for approx. 5 hours. Done.

Have fun with the tips!
