THE ROAD WISH!

The Straßenwunsch campaign fulfills the Christmas wishes of homeless people. This year marks the fifth time that the Regensburg street wish campaign has taken place.
The idea for it once came from the Gastfreundschaft hilft Regensburg association. The group was able to bring Caritas Regensburg on board as a competent partner for the street wish. This collaboration has been running smoothly since 2020. This is how the campaign works: Caritas street workers (led by Ben Peter) distribute wish lists to homeless and homeless Regensburg residents with the support of the Streetwork Raffael e.V. association. They can write down their Christmas wishes and the street workers collect the wish lists afterwards. All wishes are published on the homepage www.strassenwunsch.de website. This year, the wish list will go online on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Last year there were over 120 Christmas wishes. The wish list is long and includes everything from warm clothes, food, tobacco and rucksacks to books.
But there have also been unusual wishes in recent years, such as a fretsaw or snowshoes. One lady even wished for a job and even this wish was miraculously fulfilled just before Christmas.

Anyone who would like to help can choose a Christmas wish from the list and send an email to hallo@strassenwunsch.de. The wish list is always updated, wishes with a tick are already fulfilled. Of course, everyone is also happy to receive cookies and gingerbread in the parcel. All parcels for the street wish list can then be handed in at the Caritas branch at Obermünsterstraße 12 from 17.12. to 21.12.2024 so that the gifts can be distributed shortly before Christmas. Good cause, right?

In general, supermarket or drugstore vouchers can also be used, as well as prepaid cell phone cards and bus tickets.

Christmas should be for EVERYONE, says the homepage of Straßenwunsch. And: Let’s make Regensburg a little better TOGETHER. A wonderful idea.
