Sharing helps
SHARING HELPS!
Have you ever heard of “cafè sospeso” or “suspended coffee”? Translated, it means “suspended coffee”.
This custom originated in Naples over 100 years ago and spread from there all over the world.
The idea is as simple as it is ingenious: a customer drinks one coffee and pays for a second. Someone else who needs it can then redeem it and drink it for free.
Zack, you’ve done something good and made someone else happy.
Small gesture, big impact.
The group Gastfreundschaft-hilft-Regensburg wants everyone in this beautiful city to experience hospitality and is now bringing this idea to Regensburg under the name “Teilen hilft” (Sharing helps). For some people, everyday things, such as a coffee or a sandwich, cannot be taken for granted. A visit to a café can quickly become unaffordable for a single mother, an elderly gentleman or lady with a pension that is far too small, someone who is homeless or a neighbor who has lost their job.
A matter of honor
When sharing helps, someone who can afford it simply pays for someone else. The principle is based on trust: If you want to get a free coffee or a free ice cream, you don’t have to show any proof. “Sharing helps is about uncomplicated help and solidarity, we trust that no one will take advantage of the idea,” says Gastfreundschaft-hilft-Regensburg. The campaign starts on August 16, 2021, and the Teilen-Hilft boards have been set up in over 50 cafés and restaurants since Saturday. Metalworker Robert Prechtl, from Barbing, has supported the campaign and produced the A4 and A5 boards.
The Teilen-Hilft board is the heart of the campaign, as it is where a donated voucher is hung up and redeemed. Incidentally, this can be not only a coffee, but also a sandwich, a pretzel or a piece of cake, depending on what the participating restaurant has on offer at “Take Two”. Nice thing! It can be so easy to make someone else happy. Sharing helps.
