Short hikes in the surrounding area are like short vacations for us at the moment. With all the working from home and lockdown, we need to get some exercise and get some fresh air. Of course, keeping your distance in case you meet other hikers. In the fall, we did a dream tour along the Schwarze Laber from Schönhofen to Alling and back. The tour is about 14 km long, so you should bring a bit of stamina and sturdy shoes, not least because the last section leads back to Schönhofen via the Alpinen Steig. Spectacular viewpoints, rugged rock faces and the enchanting valley of the Schwarze Laber await you on this circular route. We started at the sports field in Schönhofen. From there, turn right along Nittendorfer Straße and follow the hiking sign with the red triangle W24.
The path leads along the Nadelspitzweg, always following the red triangle to a parking lot for hikers. Here we cross the road and walk through a leafy passage. The path is varied, sometimes across meadows, sometimes through the forest and continues to Alling (municipality of Sinzing)
Once in Alling, we see the yellow villa on the left. From here, we follow the green triangle (hiking sign W9) towards Eilsbrunn. The path leads across a meadow in front of the yellow villa up into the forest. Once in the forest, the path turns left along forest paths towards Eilsbrunn.
At the end of the path we come to a road, here we turn left towards Eilsbrunn church to the oldest inn in the world, Gasthaus Röhrl in Eilsbrunn. From there we turn left to the Alpinen Steig, the path is marked with a blue rectangle.
The Alpine Steig is part of the Jurasteig and is located in a unique landscape conservation area between Eilsbrunn and Schönhofen. It is not really alpine, but you should be sure-footed and the fantastic rocky landscape is somewhat reminiscent of the Alpine foothills. In summer, there are many climbers in this area. From the summit cross, you have a wonderful view of the Jura landscape. In the direction of Schönhofen, you reach the Naturfreundehaus at the lower end of the Alpine trail. Once there, we walk down the meadow path and back to Schönhofen. The section between Eilsbrunn and Schönhofen is probably one of the most beautiful Jura hikes, so you are rarely completely alone there. Please only walk with sturdy hiking boots and not in icy or wet conditions due to the risk of slipping.
HAVE FUN HIKING!
