MUSIC FROM REGENSBURG!
Regensburg has a wealth of musicians and bands to offer, be they native musicians or musicians who live in Regensburg. We have put together a small personal selection for you. Have a listen.
Here are our top 10 bands and musicians from Regensburg:
Trio Elf. The jazz trio led by Regensburg drummer Gerwin Eisenhauer was awarded the prestigious Bremen Jazz Prize in 2016. The outstanding musicians Walter Lang (piano) and Peter Cudek (bass) complete the trio. The trio even toured Australia in 2018 with their club-ready acoustic jazz. Genre: Jazz Drum’n Bass House, Acoustic/Electronic. (Photo above: Walter Lang, Peter Cudek, Gerwin Eisenhauer)
Paper & Places. Another trio. And what a trio! A few years ago, the band was considered the “best up-and-coming band in Bavaria”. Johannes Koch, Marc Rauscher and Harrison McClary from Regensburg have now outgrown this. We think the indie pop album “No home”, released in 2013, is great.
Andreas Dombert. “Genius, drama and loving sensuality” is what the Süddeutsche Zeitung once wrote about the Regensburg-based guitarist. The culture prize winner is a painter of timbres. His album “35” was nominated for a Jazz Echo and his current album “Minimal Music” has received excellent reviews. Listen in!
Ohrange – is a singer-songwriter duo from Regensburg, playing a colorful German/Bavarian mix of the alternative singer/songwriter genre.
The Electric Panthers. Five young musicians from Regensburg who have developed their own interpretation of electric blues.
Telquist. 2017 erschien das Debüt Reggae-Album “Strawberry Fields” des Regensburgers. Telquist singt von der Liebe bishin zu Welltuntergangsszenarien.
Some Sprouts. Some Sprouts from Regensburg write dreamy songs with catchy indie pop melodies.
Levanter. Seit ihrer Gründung im Frühjahr 2017 haben die vier Regensburger ihren Indie-Sound auf über 60 Konzerte in Deutschland und Österreich gespielt.
Föftemöller. Pop. Folk. Alternative. Independent. Der Filmkomponist und ehemalige Regensburger Domspatz Johannes Lang studierte Musikwissenschaften und gründete nach verschiedenen Bands sein Solo Projekt Föftemöller.
Teichmann brothers. Although the brothers Andi and Hannes Teichmann have lived in Berlin for quite a long time, they were born in Regensburg. They have been an integral part of Berlin’s techno underground as musicians, DJs, label makers and cultural activists since the late 90s.
Extra tip: Tobias Meinhart. Saxophonist Tobias Meinhart was born in Regensburg, but lives and works in New York. In addition to his freelance musical activities in New York City and Europe, he leads his own quintet, is a member of the Composer’s Collective Brooklyn Aliens and regularly performs in well-known New York jazz clubs.
