SHORT VACATION AND RELAXATION IN REGENSBURG!

With all the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you can always use a little relaxation. Especially now after the long winter. Resting spots and places to relax are important. So treat yourself to a little time out in Regensburg! We have collected a few ideas for you.

The 10 best places to relax in Regensburg!

Sauna

A sauna session is the perfect way to relax! There are six different saunas, a steam bath, whirlpool, outdoor pool, cold plunge pool, footbaths, ice fountains and experience showers on 12,000 square meters. It’s like a short vacation in Regensburg! You will find a real wellness temple on the Winzerer Heights in the listed silk plantation with sauna and hammam. Starry skies with 1125 Swarovski crystals included.
The Hotel Götzfried in Regensburg also has a wellness area with sauna – external guests can use the day spa offers there. Or you can take a trip to Bad Abbach to the Kaisertherme or the Bulmare in Burglengenfeld.

Yoga

Yoga has been practiced for ages and not only strengthens the body and mind, but also provides balance and inner equilibrium. There are some great yoga studios in Regensburg; we personally know and like the Regensburg Hatha Yoga School, Tarayoga and Yogafaktum in the old town, to name just a few. Of course there are many more. Most of them offer an introductory lesson. Give it a try – it feels so good!

Float

Switch off and let go at Krebsgasse 8. Floating promises to dissolve stress and the hectic pace of everyday life in a short space of time. Floating involves floating on the surface of an almost saturated solution of water and salt. Massages are also offered here.

Cosmetics

Just treat yourself – a facial treatment, a neck massage or a manicure are simply good for you. There are many beauty salons in Regensburg. We haven’t been ourselves for a long time, but in the old town we can recommend cosmetics at Cityparfümerie, Miller or Kosmetik Schatz, for example.

Massages

From classic massages to hot stone massages and Thai massages – there are numerous wellness oases in Regensburg. You can also book massages at the aforementioned Westbad or at Float. How about a nice foot reflexology massage, for example?
For Thai massages, we’ve been to Saeng Thong Thai Massage in Malergasse or Sabai Thai Massage (Zur Schönen Gelegenheit) and loved it.
You can also book and pay for a regular professional massage at most physiotherapists.

Park walk

Regensburg has some wonderful parks. And the best thing is that there is an avenue belt around the old town that connects most of the parks. It was created around 1800 and allows for long walks.
For example, you can start in Villapark at Ostentor, walk along Ostenallee, Bahnhofs-Anlagen and Fürst-Anselm-Allee towards Dörnbergpark. From there, continue to Stadtpark and finally via Prebrunnallee to the secluded Herzogspark.
If you want to go even further, cross the Danube at Eiserner Steg and explore Inselpark and Grieser Spitz.
There are even more parks in Regenburg, for example Donaupark, Ostpark, Tempe-Park and many more. We would also like to recommend the Botanical Garden of the University of Regensburg. A real gem. It was created in the 1970s on an area of 4.5 hectares and is primarily used for scientific purposes. .

Observatory

Is there anything more relaxing than gazing at the stars? The observatory at Ägidienplatz 2 in Regensburg is open every Friday and on public holidays. Public stargazing tours take place every Friday evening when the sky is clear (admission free). Opening hours September-April 20:00 (admission: 19:45 – 20:05), from May to August 21:00.

Meditation at the Zen Center Regensburg

The Zen Center Regensburg e.V. is an international meditation community (non-religious) founded by a group of friends who practice Zen meditation under the guidance of Zen Master Hyon Gak Sunim. For newcomers there are introductory classes at the Zen Center Regensburg e.V. (Weißbräuhausgasse 2). Otherwise there is daily meditation at 4.45 am and 7.00 pm, 365 days a year.

Museum visit

Looking at art is so relaxing! The Städtische Galerie im Leeren Beutel or the Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie are wonderful places to do this. Regional art can be found at the Kunst- und Gewerbeverein in Ludwigstrasse. Contemporary art can be found in Regensburg’s galleries, for example in the Galerie Lesmeister, the Galerie Artaffair, the Neuer Kunstverein, Artspace Erdel and many more.

Theater

We have so many theaters in Regensburg that there should be something for everyone. Theater Regensburg is Bavaria’s largest municipal multi-discipline theatre with five sections and the venues Theater am Bismarckplatz, Theater am Haidplatz, Antoniushaus and the Junges Theater. With its own ensembles for musical theater, drama, dance, the Junges Theater and its own philharmonic orchestra and opera choir, there is a lot on offer here.
But the Turmtheater, the Statt-Theater, the Akademietheater der ADK and the Figurentheater also have a great program.
