Games evening
OUR FAVORITE GAMES!
Traditionally, we put at least one game under the Christmas tree every year, because for us the time around Christmas and New Year’s Eve is always game time. That’s why we’ve rummaged through our game collection again and picked out a few tips for you. There are games for friends, for two players or for the whole family. One of the games can even be played alone.
Here are our game tips for Christmas 2021:
1) Pictures
This is our absolute favorite game at the moment! 16 picture cards are laid out, each player is assigned a picture which they have to recreate using various materials. These can be building blocks, shoelaces, symbol cards, sticks and color cubes. A total of five different material sets are therefore available. They all serve the same purpose: the players should present their photo motif in such a way that the others can recognize and find it. The game ends after five rounds when each player has used each material once. Ages 8+, 3-5 players.
2) Micro Macro Crime City
This game was rightly named Game of the Year 2021. We played it for the first time a few days ago and it’s great fun. You have to track down various crimes and criminals on a large city map (75 x 110 cm) that looks like a giant hidden object picture. For each case, you are given cards with questions to help you solve the puzzle. You then search the city map for the locations and crime scenes that provide the facts to solve the criminal cases. Different levels of difficulty guide you step by step through the game. Each criminal case is unique and hides amazing information! From 10 years, 1-4 players.
3) Mutabo
We also played this game recently and had a lot of fun with it. It works in a similar way to Silent Mail. All players are given a drawing sheet and a pencil as well as a card with six sentence beginnings and just as many sentence endings. From these, you form a complete sentence and write it on the first line of the drawing sheet. The sheet is passed to the next player, who now tries to draw this sentence on the next strip. The sheet is folded so that the written sentence is no longer visible and only the drawing can be seen. The sheet is passed to the next player. This player must now interpret the drawing and again put it into words and write down a sentence, and so on. The game continues in this way until it returns to the starting player. He now unfolds the sheet, reads the sentences to his fellow players and shows the pictures drawn to go with them. No one wins or loses, but everyone has fun. The game is available as a large version with a pad or as a small version with just the sentence cards. From 10 years, 3-6 players.
4) Pandemic Legacy
There is even a pandemic game for the very hardcore. Pandemic Legacy is a completely new type of board game and was created before Corona. The game is played over several rounds, tells the exciting story of a pandemic and expands with each game. The game can therefore only be played once, as the game material is labeled and changed during the games. Many interesting game evenings guaranteed. Ages 14 and up. For 2-4 players, each game lasts approx. 60 minutes.
5) The crew: Travel together to the 9th planet
In this cooperative game, you travel into space as an astronaut. There is supposedly a ninth planet in space. The adventurous journey spans 50 exciting missions and the game can only be won if each player completes individual tasks together. Team communication is essential. From 10 years, 2-5 players
There is also the Crew: Mission Deep Sea.
6) Phase 10
This game should not be missing from any game collection. In this card game, the players have to go through a total of 10 phases. In each phase, the aim is to collect a certain combination of cards and lay them out in front of them. This can be twins, triplets, a sequence of numbers or a combination of all of these. Once a phase has been successfully completed, you can move on to the next phase, with the level of difficulty increasing with each new phase. If you fail a phase, you have to repeat it. The game ends as soon as the first player has completed their tenth phase. Ages 7 and up. For 2-6 players.
7) Just One
Here you play together to discover as many words as possible. Everyone receives a small sign to give clues to a word they are looking for, which the person whose turn it is has to guess. The aim is to find the best clue to help your teammate. All identical clues are deleted! From 8 years, 3-7 players.
8) Vertellis
This communication game is perfect for the end of the year. Vertellis has various cards with questions. First, it’s about looking back, what was good in the last year, what nice experiences were there, what are you grateful for and so on. Then it’s about the future, what do you want to change, what goals do you have? The game consists of asking each other questions using the cards, sharing stories and experiences and getting into conversation about them.
