HISTORY VIDEOS MADE IN REGENSBURG!
Today we are introducing you to a YouTube channel from Regensburg: “FlossenTV – Geschichte erleben!” is the name of the channel, which was originally founded by five history students from the University of Regensburg. Some of them have now completed their state exams and are doing their traineeships in other cities. Since the beginning of 2018, Flossen TV has been dedicated to conveying history in an attractive way – topics from the entire history of mankind are presented in an exciting, informative and everyday way. The channel cooperates with external partners on a regular basis, for example with staff from the Institute of History at the University of Regensburg. The aim of Flossen TV is to get young and old interested in history. And the team led by Daniel Reichenberger and Johannes Haider succeeds in doing this brilliantly. The “Flossen TV” members slip into different roles in their videos and skillfully prove that history is anything but boring. The topics are varied, with short videos explaining, for example, where the saying “procrastination” comes from (namely Regensburg), clips about Emperor Nero or the fairytale king Ludwig II or explaining where the Easter egg and the Easter bunny come from. https://youtu.be/tsK08wjIDMw
Conspiracy theories in Regensburg
The group’s biggest success to date was a complete Regensburg thriller entitled “Ruf der Ahnen”. In this short film about a murder in wintry Regensburg, everything revolves around love, conspiracy theories and a dramatic finale. Regensburg becomes the setting for a dramatic story about a mysterious chalice from the Middle Ages. In times of fake news, Ruf der Ahnen shows how life can go off the rails if you believe alternative facts too much.
Protagonist Daniel Reichenberger: “In Ruf der Ahnen, viewers experience the beautiful city of Regensburg from a completely different perspective”. The “Flossen TV” group produced the film entirely on its own. “We dedicated the schedule of all ten participants to this project for weeks. A very special challenge.” https://youtu.be/vffPuqkW104
