AUTUMN TIPS

Autumn is showing its best side this year. The sunset is particularly bright at the moment, the colorful deciduous trees look simply wonderful and even the weather is sunny rather than cloudy. To make sure it stays a golden fall for you, we have something quick for you here:

Nine tips for the fall:

  1. Flying kites on the Tremmelhauser Höhe. “Entertain the child in you” was Joseph Beuys’ motto. Flying a kite is perfect for this! So is the wind at the moment.
Whether you make your own or buy one, try it out again, flying a kite is great fun!
  2. Take a VHS course. When was the last time you learned something completely new? The VHS-Regensburg and VHS-Regensburg-Land offer an extensive program, from A for beginners’ sheepshead course to Z for contemporary dance. There are also exciting lectures and courses. How about a new language? Have you always wanted to try wood sculpting or take a sewing course? Then simply sign up, the fall is the best opportunity to do so!
  3. Hiking. Autumn is the best time of year for this and the fresh fall air is good for you. Get up and go for a walk to the Winzerer Heights or put on your hiking boots and take a trip to the nearby, beautiful Höllbach Valley. You can find all our excursion tips here: Excursions on RegensburgNow
For those who prefer to take a walk in the city, we recommend a park tour. Here is our suggestion: start in Villapark via Ostenallee and Fürst-Anselm-Allee to Dörnbergpark and via Stadtpark to Herzogspark. You can also collect chestnuts or colorful leaves and sometimes you can even find a quince tree. And with a few matches and chestnuts, you can quickly make a little chestnut man.
  4. Sauna. A sauna is the perfect way to recharge your batteries and do something good for yourself! You can take a sauna in Regensburg in the Westbad or outside in Bad Abbach in the Kaisertherme or for example in the Bulmare in Burglengenfeld. Alternatively, the Hotel Götzfried in Regensburg also offers a sauna (external guests can use the day spa facilities) or you can book yourself into the Seidenplantage with sauna, hammam, pool, whirlpool and outdoor terrace.
  5. Bowling. Bowling is so retro that it’s almost cult again. After bowling, the movie “The Big Lebowsky” is perfect! You can bowl at Superbowl in Gewerbepark D 44, for example.
  6. Go to the theater. When was the last time you went to the theater? The new season is in full swing and it’s so nice to get a taste of the theater again after such a long time. The Regensburg Theatre offers a rich program with five sections including drama, musical theater, dance, young theater and concerts. On the DEZ stage, you can enjoy the program of the Turmtheater, Statt-Theater and the improv theater Chamäleon. Our insider tip is the Akademietheater in Kreuzgasse. Here you can follow the development of acting students from the Academy of Performing Arts Bavaria up close. And if you have children, you should definitely visit the Regensburg Figurentheater in the Stadtpark.
  7. Art, art, art. The best thing to do yourself, of course, see tip two: the VHS also offers great art courses. There is also a wide range of courses at Stadtkunst in Prüfeninger Straße 30. Otherwise, you can also see lots of art in Regensburg, for example at the Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie or the Städtische Galerie im Leeren Beutel. Regensburg’s gallery landscape also offers a wonderful selection of exhibitions; you can find the current exhibitions here: Exhibitions Regensburg galleries
  8. Eat cake. It’s getting colder, so a bit of soul food will do you good. Treat yourself to a slice at one of Regensburg’s all-time classics, Café Prinzess, Opera, Kuchenbar, Konditorei Pernsteiner or whatever your favorite is. Alternatively, the fall weekends are a great time to bake your own cake and invite friends over. Here is our recipe for a quick apple pie.
  9. Doing indoor sports. Especially important after eating too much cake. It doesn’t have to be the gym. Regensburg’s sports clubs have a large and inexpensive offer. The VHS also has a lot of sport in its program. At Megasports-Regensburg in Obertraubling, you can play indoor tennis, squash or badminton and even go climbing.

Have a wonderful fall!
