GIVE AWAY EXPERIENCES FROM THE REGION!

Are you looking for a gift with a difference? Something special, something to amaze or make you smile, something to enjoy and discover? You don’t have to go far to find it, because our city and the surrounding area offer a wide range of options! After all, experiences are the real gifts and maybe you can do one or two things together? Then it’s twice the fun and a wonderful shared memory and the pressure cooker and car vacuum cleaner can stay where they are. We have put together a small selection for you.

11 unusual gift ideas from the region:

1) In the footsteps of Genghis Khan

Rohrdorf, just behind the Schwetzendorf pond, is home to Bogensport Regensburg. Owner Uwe Zimmermann discovered his passion for archery years ago and was even an Olympic champion at the Mongolian Olympic Games. The handsome man is able to draw on his experience in woodworking as a carpenter to teach courses in bow, arrow and canoe making and also how to use the tools. There are also archery courses for beginners, group courses, individual training sessions, Ottoman thumb ring training, meditative archery and much more. Because the bow and arrow can provide excitement and relaxation at the same time – that’s the fascinating thing about this artisanal hobby with its incredibly contemplative moments.

2) For Lara Croft and Indiana Jones

Do you want to give a gift to someone who has tried everything and loves adventure? Then don’t send them straight to hell, but first send them to the caves in Essing near Regensburg for a unique experience. Let the adventurer or explorer dive into the subterranean world on a cave tour, because there are many interesting things to discover not only on earth, but also in the earth. A world is revealed here that remains closed to many other people. Bizarre stalactite formations are fascinating, and the “birth canal”, which you have to crawl and climb through, provides thrills and adventure. Well equipped with overalls, helmet, headlamp and climbing equipment and under professional guidance, you can explore dark passages and the mysterious cave worlds of the Altmühltal as a team. Descend through a hole in the forest floor into the realm of gnomes and goblins. Through a shaft that the natives believed to be the entrance to the underworld and where animal and human sacrifices are said to have been made. Then there is an eight meter steep wall to climb before the underworld releases the brave again. An experience that will remain unforgettable.

3) Hike with a cuddle factor and mindfulness

If you really want to unwind from stress and hectic life, you should go on a mindfulness hike with the cuddly alpacas. Not only do they look cuddly with their fluffy fur, they also have soulful eyes that quickly cast a spell over you. You walk in groups of 10 to 15 alpacas, as they are herd animals. Anyone aged 12 and over can take part in the year-round hikes from Monday to Saturday, as even the alpacas have Sunday off! At Alpakahof-Grundner, you can first make contact with the curious animals and get in the mood for the mindfulness hike. Then you can walk through the woods and meadows to the rhythm of the alpacas. Here, the calming charisma of the alpacas and the tranquillity of nature help you to find inner peace. Here you can finally unwind and recharge your batteries. The experience is enhanced by various textile impulses, mindfulness and mental exercises that draw attention to our inner self! You will return from this very special tour grounded and decelerated and will draw new energy from it.

4) Culinary journeys

For true connoisseurs and gourmets, Rehorik, long a Regensburg institution, offers a wide range of special seminars and discovery tours. Whether it’s a barista course for beginners or advanced students, latte art or barista master exams. There are wine seminars and wine tastings for lovers of a good drop, as well as “spiritual” excursions into the world of gin, whiskey or rum. Or would your partner like to get behind the bar and discover the secrets of cocktails? Exciting wine cellar tastings with food pairing menus or individual dinner events to suit your taste – the culinary highlights that melt in your mouth are sure to be a gift for connoisseurs that will make them smile for a long time to come.

5) For beer connoisseurs and those who want to become one

Cook your own soup or would you prefer to brew your own beer? The Spitalbrauerei brewery offers this for all friends of hop juice at the brewing course in the Spitalkeller in Regensburg. Turn your loved one into their own master brewer. In the former summer cellar of the traditional brewery, beginners and professionals can get to the bottom of the theory and practice of the Bavarian Purity Law and brew their own hoppy drink in the historic surroundings of the 800-year-old brewing art of St. Katharinen Hospital at the foot of the Dreifaltigkeitsberg. After the professional beer tasting and small treats to go with it, the hard-working brewers will receive a beer connoisseur’s diploma and after around six weeks they can collect their home-brewed beer.

6) Dancing and floating like in a dream

Do you love aesthetic dance, acrobatic suppleness and want to express music and sensuality with your body? Then the first pole dance studio in Regensburg is the right place to start, right through to a stage show. Sabrina Kölbl and her team attach great importance to a well thought-out training structure that makes this challenging sport accessible to all participants and keeps the body healthy and fit in the long term. Whether on the pole, on the hoop or with the vertical cloth and regardless of age, fitness and physique, you can learn a completely new approach to your own physicality here, because pole dancing combines dance, fitness and acrobatics to create an almost weightless aesthetic. ROCK’N’POLE offers special strength training and stretching lessons, so-called conditioning and pole even as an online course. An easy way to a new passion, a new body awareness and body control. Pole dancing allows you to test your limits and slip into different roles. It not only shapes you on the outside but also gives you a new self-confidence and strengthens you on the inside. It has turned many a duckling into a beautiful swan.

7) For forest fairies, Tarzan and Spiderman

The Regensburg climbing forest is the right place for all adventurers looking for fun and thrills. Here you can slow down and discover exciting experiences at the same time. Whether you’re a lone fighter or a team player – here you can aim high and literally hang out, because there’s nothing like a good high-altitude thrill! Even four-year-old climbing dwarves can climb through the enchanted forest with Fridolin the dragon and become little forest fairies and treetop stormers. The slightly older young climbers can look forward to an adventure at heights of up to fourteen meters above the forest floor and follow in Tarzan’s footsteps! For real experts, on the other hand, the physical and mental challenge in the supreme discipline on the Tarantula course and in the Now-Or-Never is the perfect kick. But there are also seven other courses available for relaxed climbing.

8) Beyond Africa…and very close to Regensburg

Please don’t bury your head in the sand if you haven’t found a suitable tip yet, because here’s a little safari to the animals that are really good at it: At Daniel Lebert’s Jura Ostrich Farm in Münchsried/Brunn, just over 20 minutes from Regensburg. The nature and adventure farm is home to the largest birds in the world – African ostriches, which have also felt at home in the Upper Palatinate Jura for a few years now. These impressive long-legged creatures are very fast runners and can reach speeds of up to 72 kilometers per hour, sometimes with strides over three meters long. But they cannot fly. They live here on the farm in breeding groups of 3 to 5 hens and one cockerel each, an extra flock of “half-siblings” and a flock of youngsters. They are particularly cute with their hedgehog hairstyles and are also great fun for younger visitors. During a guided tour, you might finally be able to find out whether Mr. and Mrs. Ostrich are really burying their heads in the sand. A small Out of Africa experience for the whole family and the opportunity to purchase the particularly tasty and healthy meat, which combines the versatility and taste of red meat with the positive nutritional properties of white meat. You can also buy ostrich eggs, ostrich pasta, meat and sausage products, feathers and much more. A real tip for that special gift!

9) For hikers and herb witches

Do your loved ones enjoy walking in nature or are they interested in the plants of our homeland? Then a walk with Susanne Hansch would be just the thing. The herb specialist knows her way around the local flora and will be showing you edible wild plants in winter along the Aubach in Burgweinting during the courses in February. The regional enrichment for smoothies and vitamin bowls! Many edible wild plants will be shown in their winter dress and you will learn which parts of the plants can be harvested in the course of the year and which valuable ingredients are contained in the plants. Of course, there are also practical tips for harvesting and preparation. If that’s not enough, you can also book a botany course to identify the wild plants. Or a wild herb day in April or May in the Mienbach forest garden. A small recommendation in passing: the herbalist’s book “Der Giersch muss weg!” Because even the ubiquitous supposed weed has positive properties and a taste factor.

10) Being creative makes you happy

If mom or dad have long dreamed of reviving their creative streak, then a voucher for a pottery course with Marianne Mion at La Fabrique, the pottery studio in Lessingstrasse, is just the thing. Pottery, creating with your own hands, is also a wonderful experience for children. Such vouchers for young and old are always well received! Or if you have these talents lying dormant, then why not use them to create a unique, high-quality and useful gift yourself? Perhaps the kids would also enjoy a few creative hours with her? The ceramist also has something for them: there are over 100 different ceramic blanks to paint. Or get a “home pack” that you can put together yourself and paint at home in peace. An introductory video can be found on the homepage and after completion, the small works of art are fired in the workshop so that what has been created is preserved forever and can continue to delight the heart for years to come.

11) For stargazers and budding astronauts

Fortunately, looking at the stars is free, but you can still top that: Why not take your loved ones to the Regensburg Observatory? It is not only the oldest public observatory in Germany, but also one of the oldest in the world. Even 100 years ago, lectures about the Milky Way were held here in front of an astonished audience. Even in today’s enlightened world, the fascination is undiminished. Take a look at the sky through the large reflecting telescope in the historic dome and have the stars interpreted by dedicated, passionate astronomers. An impressive experience, and not just for budding astronauts. It is also a very special place for romantic gestures. If you are looking for a gift that can’t be beaten, why not get your loved one a star from the sky – with a star sponsorship! At the same time, you will be supporting a charitable organization in your region. A star sponsorship is a very personal gift. You can dedicate a very specific star to the star sponsor. Unfortunately, you cannot name the sponsored star yourself because all objects in the sky are named or designated by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). But you will receive a certificate from the Regensburg Observatory on high-quality paper with the name of the sponsor and the name of the sponsored star. You will also receive a star chart to help you find your sponsored star in the night sky and more detailed information about the star and the constellation in question. So why not reach for the stars…
