ENLIGHTMENT REGENSBURG – AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE HEART OF REGENSBURG!

Over the past two years, the Kulturoptimisten have brought immersive art to Regensburg with the GENESIS I and GENESIS II projects in collaboration with the Projektil artists’ collective. The Zurich collective Projektil, founded by a group of visionary artists, stands for a synthesis of art, technology and music and has made a name for itself with spectacular multimedia installations and immersive experiences. With an unmistakable mix of light, sound and digital effects, they take art to a whole new level.
Projektil has been creating unique light shows and art installations since 2008 – including Genesis I and II and Enlightment, of course, but also Monet’s Garden, Klimt’s Kiss, Viva Frida Kahlo and many more.

Light spectacle in the Minorite Church

Now comes the next art experience in Regensburg: ENLIGHTMENT. Dreaming with your eyes open? This will be possible from November 9, 2024 thanks to Enlightment in the Minorite Church in the heart of Regensburg. Until 11 January 2025, you can immerse yourself in the metamorphosis of the four seasons in this visual and sound spectacle.
During the 30-minute show, visitors can experience spring, summer, autumn and winter to the sounds of Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, from the spring awakening to violent summer storms, colorful autumn leaves, to the first snowflakes and ice crystals, before the eternal cycle of the seasons is broken in a spectacular finale.

The entire ceiling and all the structures of the church were measured, calculated and dimensioned in advance so that the projection perfectly matches the proportions of the building. Sound and image in the room allow for an immersion that leaves you speechless. Art, technology and spirituality merge to create an experience that unleashes new expanses and creativity and makes the viewer forget space and time. The 30-minute performances take place daily from 17:00. Tickets and information are now available online at www.enlightment-regensburg.de

Special Nights – live music for the illumination

There will be live concerts for Illumination again this year! At the Special Nights, Kulturoptimis and Projektil will present a 45-minute version of Enlightment. In addition, musicians will present their own program live, precisely coordinated with the show, making it possible to experience the visual artwork En-lightment in a completely different, new way. For all those who are curious to see how different the show works with different music and all those who simply want to experience a special concert again. Advance ticket sales for the concerts have begun and there is something for everyone, from classical to electro sounds. More than Classic kicks things off on November 19 at 7:15 pm and 8:30 pm: Irina Pak plays first violin in the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. Together with the Ukrainian accordionist Ilya Kurtev, she synchronizes the illumination to the second and creates precious moments and unforgettable memories. The young Regensburg guitarist Vincent Babl creates a captivating soundscape of hypnotizing melodies and rhythmic loops with a clever combination of live looping, percussion and fingerstyle elements on 26 November at 19:15 and 20:30.

On December 2 at 7:15 pm and 8:30 pm, Rainer J. Hofmann will lend his personal sound to Illumination. He has been accompanying the Regensburg Silent Film Week for more than two decades with a wide range of instruments from piano to double bass. He will be coming to the Minorite Church with piano, synthesizer and all kinds of electro sounds. The Uni Jazz Orchestra has long been an integral part of the cultural scene. On December 16 at 7:15 pm and 8:30 pm, an ensemble of musicians from the Uni Jazz Orchestra will interpret and improvise to Illumination under the direction of jazz saxophonist and singer Peter Thoma. Stefan Baier will give a concert on the Schwalbennest organ on December 17 at 7:15 pm and 8:30 pm for Enlightment. He is a professor of organ and harpsichord at the HfKM and an organist with heart and soul. He carries this passion into the world: as a lecturer at international universities from Poland to Cuba as well as a concert organist with performances in Europe, Africa, Japan and Korea. The concert series will conclude with guitarist and singer Manuel MNL Meier on January 8 at 19:15 and 20:30. Equipped with a warm, clear voice, he not only presents his own songs in his live performances, but also creates a relaxed atmosphere with the audience thanks to his charming manner. Tickets and information about the Enlightment performances and the Special Nights are available online at www.enlightment-regensburg.de, at the Tourist Information Office on Rathausplatz and, while seats are still available, at the box office on the day.
