DONATIONS IN REGENSBURG:

There is nothing good unless you do it, Erich Kästner once said. On television, fundraising programs are in full swing during Advent. Fancy doing something good too? The pre-Christmas period is ideal for this! Whether with money, donations in kind or a membership – there are so many opportunities and so many wonderful projects in Regensburg.

We have selected a few great projects from Regensburg that are always happy to receive a little help:

For children and young people:

  • Stadtamhof Orphanage Foundation. A somewhat antiquated name, as the foundation has been around for a very long time. For well over 100 years, it has been committed to helping disadvantaged children and young people in Regensburg so that they have the same opportunities as other children. What happens, for example, if a mother cannot fulfill her child’s wish for a new bicycle? What if the bill for the planned vacation camp exceeds the budget or another financial emergency has arisen? This is exactly where the Stadtamhof Orphanage Foundation tries to help. → www.regensburg.de/stiftungen
  • Kinder- und Jugendförderverein St. Leonhard e.V. The St. Leonhard socio-educational center in Regensburg has set up curative residential groups for children and young people as well as day groups. Children and young people from families who have outgrown their difficulties and needs are cared for here.

  • VKKK Ostbayern e.V. The VKKK’s mission is to provide comprehensive medical, nursing, social, psychological and legal support for children and young people with cancer and their families.

  • Children’s tree campaign. A party for every child is the motto. We have already presented the Kinderbaum campaign here → regensburgnow.de/kinderbaum-regensburg

Social:

  • Tafel Regensburg e.V.
The Tafel offers people with little or no income the opportunity to save money when shopping or to get food at all.
At the same time, they create space for encounters and thus the framework for building a social network – which gives support to those affected by poverty and can help them to improve their situation.
A store sponsorship is also possible: from €10 per month – a meaningful cause and a great gift!

  • Hospitality helps Regensburg e.V.
The association has launched such wonderful campaigns as “Teilen hilft” (Sharing helps), the “Kunterbunte Kinder-Kino im Ostentorkino” (Colorful Children’s Cinema at the Ostentor Cinema) and the “Straßenwunsch” (Street Wish). The “Street Wish” is now in its fourth year. It is a joint campaign by Gastfreundschaft hilft Regensburg and Caritas Regensburg. Homeless people give the Caritas street workers a Christmas wish, which is published on the website www.strassenwunsch.de. Regensburg residents can choose and fulfill a wish there. The association received the Regensburg City Key award in 2021 for its social commitment.

  • Mothers in Need e.V.
Mothers in Need was founded in 1993 and has so far helped around 2100 single parents, families and their children in Regensburg city and district. The volunteer helpers visit the families or single parents on site to get an idea of their situation. Mothers in Need helps with financial difficulties, accompanies them to the authorities and also establishes contacts, e.g. to advice centers.

  • Rengsburg hearts. This association is very active in Regensburg. The Rengschburger Herzen look after the elderly, support the homeless shelters where they can and people in need in general. • Soziale Initiativen e.V. The Regensburg umbrella organization for socially committed groups in Regensburg. 29 member associations currently belong to the Social Initiatives. The Regensburg homeless newspaper Donaustrudl is also part of it. You can find out more about the Social Initiatives in our interview with Reinhard Kellner , the head of the Social Initiatives, who was awarded an honorary citizens’ medal for his life’s work in 2021. → Homepage Social Initiatives Social Initiatives e.V.
  • Regensburg Charitable Foundation. What to do when there is already nothing left in your wallet in the middle of the month? Older people in particular, who are dependent on supplementary social benefits and only have a very small pension, are familiar with this. If something unforeseen happens, such as the washing machine breaking down, then it becomes particularly hard for these people. The Regensburg Charitable Foundation supports people in Regensburg who are affected by poverty. www.regensburg.de/stiftungen
  • Strohhalm Regensburg e.V. The association has been offering a meeting place and food bank for homeless and needy people in Keplerstraße for over 20 years. Strohhalm also runs a clothing store.

The association received the Regensburg City Key award in 2022 for its social commitment.
  • Tierschutzverein Regensburg und Umgebung e.V.
The association’s motto is “adopt instead of abandon”. Every year, many animal lovers make it possible to care for up to 1,000 animals and, in most cases, find them a new home. → www.tierschutzverein-rgbg.de
