Children’s and youth farm

THE CHILDREN AND YOUTH FARM IN REGENSBURG!

Do you know the children’s and youth farm in Regensburg? I was there for the first time last year and have been a big fan of this great project ever since!
The children’s and youth farm is a fenced-in area of approx. 4000 m² in the north of Regensburg (Konradsiedlung) and a real gem. The children’s and youth farm has been in existence since 2003. Nevertheless, this beautiful project does not seem to be known everywhere in Regensburg.
My sister had often raved about it to me and so we went there with my nephew on one of the first fall Saturdays. There was a sign at the entrance:

“Feeding animals today, apple juice pressing and bread on a stick”.

Just after the entrance is an enclosure with ducks, chickens and pigeons. Diagonally opposite, one of the employees was inviting a few children to feed the rabbits and explained to them that they should sit on the small stools in the enclosure and please keep quiet, otherwise the rabbits would be scared. Under educational guidance, the children can stroke, care for and feed the animals, as well as do crafts, paint and play.
Children aged 7 and over can take the ‘animal driving license’. In general, the educational offer is fantastic.
In addition to open hours, there are vacation activities, children’s birthday parties, project days, guided tours, group activities and excursions.

In addition to the animals mentioned above, there are also goats, guinea pigs, sheep, mini pigs and even two alpacas called Momo and Merlin. In addition to plenty of space and fresh air, there is a teepee tent, a covered seating area, a large sandpit for digging with all kinds of toys, a fire pit, a climbing tower and a slide. There is even a bakehouse on the site. And a colorful construction trailer.

The children’s and youth farm opens every Wednesday for children aged 7 and over and every Saturday afternoon for families (except on public holidays) – free of charge.
On Saturdays, cakes are available for a donation, as the children’s and youth farm is not a municipal facility but is largely financed by donations and supporting memberships.
Nothing works here without volunteers – there are currently 18 helpers.
So if you are planning to donate money to a good cause or would like to collect karma points by the end of the year:
I think a donation here is a really good investment!
