SOPHIA, DEATH AND ME (Thees Uhlmann)

If you search for Thees Uhlmann on Spotify, you’re more likely to find music. This is the musician’s debut novel. In “Sophia, Death and I”, Uhlmann deals with the big questions of life in a comically tragic way: death rings at the door. But instead of transporting the narrator to the afterlife, there is a fast-paced road trip between heaven and hell, together with Death and ex-girlfriend Sophia. A HANDFUL OF STARS (Rafik Schami)

I like Rafik Schami very much! He’s been to Regensburg many times, by the way. In 2017, we organized a charity reading in the Antoniushaus together with the Dombrowsky bookshop. A wonderful person and writer! “A Handful of Stars” is a classic that was published in 1987. It tells the story of a baker’s boy from Damascus in diary form. As I’m writing this, I’m listening to Dan Brown’s “Origin”. In his new novel, Dan Brown also falls back on his recipe for success, namely interweaving secret codes, science, religion, history and art.
