BEAUTIFUL MUSEUMS

  • Empty Bag” municipal gallery. In the former granary you will find beautiful special exhibitions as well as fine art from the 20th century and the present. Bertold Street 9
  • Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie / KOG, Dr.- Johann-Meier-Strasse 5 (near the city park). Modern art in Regensburg.
  • Bridge Tower Museum & Visitor Center World Heritage Center, Weisse-Lamm-Gasse 1
  • Reichstag Museum & Torture Chamber (only with guided tour), Old Town Hall
  • Thurn und Taxis Palace and St. Emmeram’s Cloister (only with guided tour), Emmeramsplatz 5 Glory and splendor in one of the largest private palaces in Europe. The cloister of the former monastery of St. Emmeram is impressive!
  • Document Neupfarrplatz (guided tour only). The Jewish quarter was located here in the Middle Ages. A small part of it can be visited underground.
  • Keplerhaus. Das kleine Museum im ehemaligen Wohnhaus von Johannes Kepler gibt eine guten Überblick über Leben und Werk des berühmten Astronomen. Keplerstrasse 5, nur am Wochenende geöffnet.
  • House of Bavarian History 1000 exhibits are displayed on almost 2500m² in Regensburg’s new museum.

BEAUTIFUL CHURCHES

  • Romanesque: Schottenkirche, impressive portal. Jakobstrasse 3
  • Gothic: St. Peter’s Cathedral – of course. Apart from Saturdays, you can listen to the huge organ every day at 12.00 noon, and on Sundays and public holidays at the 10.00 a.m. service. Cathedral square
  • Early Baroque: Trinity Church – beautiful! Tower ascent possible. On the Mount of Olives 1
  • Baroque: St. Emmeran – built in the 8th century and baroqueized in the 18th century by the Asam brothers. Emmeramsplatz 3: The beautiful cloister can be visited as part of a guided tour of the palace.
